“Could you see your way to including as a fixed combination the Schroder Japan Growth Find PLC (SJG- you already have it) multiplied by GBPJPY? This is the way I imagine most readers would be investing in it, by hedging the currency.
“I continue to find your periodic reviews of individual shares extremely useful. Many good ideas come that way.”
Eoin Treacy's view Thank you for this suggestion and your
kind words. Industrial shares underperformed for much of 2010 and 2011 but returned
to positions of outperformance last summer and we have since seen an increasing
number complete more than decade long bases. The advent of embedded programming
has been a revelation for industrial and manufacturing sector productivity and
represents a significant growth avenue going forward as new products reach market.

With
regard to currency conversion, I'm afraid it is not practical for us to add
a separate Yen denominated chart for each overseas Japan fund. However, you
can create a Preset Template to perform the Pound to Yen currency conversion
which you can then apply to all Pound denominated instruments. To perform this
 operation follow these instructions:
1.
Select SJG from the menus or via the search.
2.
Once the chart appears click on the Charting tab, located in the charcoal coloured
 bar above the chart area.
3.
A popup window will appear. Click on the “Other Relative” tab, located in green
 below the Relative dropdown menu.
4.
A fresh popup window appears. The search engine is located in the lower right
corner. Use GBPJPY as your search parameter,
5.
Click on the relevant search result. This will then be added to the Relative
 dropdown menu.
6.
Select multiply from the second Relative dropdown menu located to the right
 of the first one.
7.
Once you have performed the above operations, click on the Apply button at the
 bottom of the popup window
8.
To save these settings as a permanent option in your menu of preset templates,
click on the Charting tab again.
9.
In the popup window, click on the Save button in the aquamarine bar at the top
 of the window.
10.
Give the template a name and hit OK.

 11. Click on Apply at the bottom of the popup window.
12.
 Refresh the page (F5).
Your
new template will now be found in the Chart menu located right at the top of
 the page.
The
 chart should look like this.
In
future whenever you look at a UK denominated instrument which you would like
to redenominate to Yen, all you need do is select the instrument concerned then
 select your template.
