More on Manmohan Singh, India's prime minister:
"I have certain observations I would like to share with you:
"Singh has proven himself as an economist and Finance Minister but his prime ministership reminds me of the saying: behind every successful man there is a woman. It would be an understatement to say that he is deficient in political savviness which is a necessity to get your policies through the maze of political ideologies and vested interests. India needs leadership that is both pragmatic and street smart. Congress has been always a top heavy political party probably because development of grass root political workers is seen to be threatening to their own existence.
"The head of India's most powerful political party- no (!), not Singh - was a housewife for much of her life. This oddest couple is credited with the recent development of India and is being touted as the leaders to take India to superpower status. I find this interesting, to say the least, but I will spare you my comments on these 'observations'."
David Fuller's view I take you points, particularly regarding "leadership that is both pragmatic and street smart." These are certainly important in getting things done. However for good economic governance, it helps to have someone who knows something about the subject.
