On accessing foreign shares from the UK:
"I am fairly new to investing and have just signed up for a 1 month full trial of your service. I have been reading the truncated daily comment for around a year and have reached the point in my investing where, although I have had good success in a rising market, I need to take things more seriously. Hence I am edging towards a full monthly subscription.

"There is one thing that I have found frustrating when reading about companies that sound as if they would make an interesting investment and that is access. Currently, I only have an online account with Hargreaves Lansdown, plus a spread betting account with IG Index (which I have yet to use).

"If I want to pursue your suggestion of investing in the Global Uranium Fund (as an example) how do I get access to this fund? It is Canadian and does not appear to be available through H-L. Also how can I buy American shares without spread betting? It seems that to do so I would need to be resident in the USA, is that correct?

"I realise that these must appear to be very rudimentary questions, but not ones that I have yet found a simple answer to.

"Thanks in advance."

David Fuller's view Welcome to Fullermoney and congratulations on your successful participation in the stock market to date.

Re access to foreign shares, I have mentioned this before and am happy to repeat that I have never had any access problems when investing through Tony Smith of Brewin Dolphin Securities - 0845 213 3523.

The Global Uranium Fund is a very small investment trust and therefore currently illiquid for anything other than small orders (see also yesterday's emails, and 3 below).

Please remember, these instruments can be volatile and are therefore best purchased following setbacks within the rising overall trends.
