Email of the day (2 & 3)
On wheat:
"I am not sure that David ever received the email below, as there seemed to be a problem at the time..."
And:
"The collective may be interested in today's [1st April] email from the Kansas Wheat people, which gives a good overview of the impact of the drought that The Browning Letter has been warning us about!"
David Fuller's view Thanks for the resend and also the item on Wheat posted above. It tallies with what I have heard and is also corroborated by this report kindly forwarded by another subscriber. The important part is the Summary/Conclusion near the bottom.
With global stocks of many agricultural crops already low, another year of poor yields would have severe consequences in terms of shortages, inflationary pressures, social hardship and unrest. However it would be premature to assume that this worst-case scenario will occur.
Prices for wheat are strengthening once again while the remain uncomfortably high for soybeans and especially corn, but rough rice has lagged.
