"David what is beneath the Top-10 long-term equity positions (by weighting)?"
David Fuller's view Mainly, several Asian positions, the
best of which is the Aberdeen New Dawn Investment
Trust (ABD LN), which has probably been in the portfolio for at least five
years. I wish I had bought more of this because it is extremely well managed.
There is a Fidelity Japan Fund in a small, separate pension scheme. It is not
in the Library but the Fidelity
Japanese Values IT (FJV LN) is a reasonably close equivalent. There is a
very small position in the db
x-trackers FTSE Vietnam ETF (XFVT LN) which I probably will not increase,
although if I were ever going to do so this might not be a bad time. I also
have a similarly small position in the Indian miner Vedanta,
which has had political problems over the last year.
Even
weaker global stock markets would certainly tempt me to increase my equity investments,
possibly significantly, and I would probably opt for some of the successful
multinational companies reviewed by Eoin over the last couple of months, which
offer a decent dividend and a good record of yield increases.
