More on Curtis Faith's book:
"I agree that Curtis Faith's book was a good read, and I learned some useful things, however I think I might need to reread it and see if I missed something. As I recall his principal strategy was breakout trading. I wonder if he would achieve the same stellar results if he were starting out today, or if Richard Dennis would use the same teaching method. It strikes me that their edge was at least in part that fewer people had his knowledge of market behaviour and chart patterns; note not all Turtles were as successful as Faith. I tried out some breakout trades, and as often as not, I was burned by false breaks. I realise that we live in interesting times, and I am no Curtis Faith, but I can't help wonder if this is not the time to be a Turtle. Have the rules changed or is it just me?"

David Fuller's view Thanks for this report. I have yet to see the book but I hope this is not shades of Nicolas Darvas and his Box Theory because there is certainly nothing new about trading breakouts. This will work in trending markets but not in volatile, whipsaw conditions such as we saw for much of last year.
