More on Germany's gold
"This furore about Germany repatriating Gold from the US.... I can think of several good reasons why the German Government would want to do this but is there not a simple explanation?

"Countries used to lodge Gold with THE international banker to make sure of lines of credit, participation in 'important' forums and other obsequious exercises. But if THE international banker is no longer up to the task and has outlived its credibility, why not bring the membership deposit home? BWDIK!"

David Fuller's view You probably know a lot, although I understand why you would not declare this yourself.

With Germany successfully reunited following the WW2 division, and with competitive devaluations increasing, I do not find it hard to imagine why Germany has decided to hold its own gold.
