On "$14 beans, or $4 beans?"
"In Argentina soybeans are supposedly worth $14 today. But the 35% export tax reduces the price to $9.10. The official exchange rate of 5 versus the black market of 8.75 reduces the price further to $5.20. If a farmer sells the beans and puts the money away, 25% inflation will erode the price in 1 year to $ 3.90. A pretty good example of government theft, and, no doubt, a model for the rest of the world."
David Fuller's view Thanks for your assessment of this painful situation for Argentineans.
Governance Is Everything, and it does not seem to have improved much in Argentina
