Eoin's personal portfolio: fixed income position opened
One of the questions subscribers ask most often is how to find details of my open trades. To make it easier I will simply repost the latest summary on a daily basis until there is a change.
Following several discussions over the last few weeks, I have decided to deploy a short-term bond buying program with the intention of reinvesting returns to harvest compound interest. I put almost all the cash in my SEP in the T 2.125% 12/31/2022 which has a running yield of 3.75% and current yield of 2.12%.
I opened a long in the Hang Seng paying 19060 for a March contract on November 30th. .
I bought an investment position in the DoubleLine Income Solutions Fund on November 10th. It was trading at a discount of 1.29%, is leveraged 30.48% and invests in high yield and mortgage bonds. The fund is currently yielding 11.5% and makes distributions monthly. I paid $11.485 including dealing costs.
I also initiated an investment long in the Global X Silver Miners ETF paying $27.57 on November 10th.
On November 4th I dipped back into the gold market; opening a long in the December contract at $1676.
I also increased my investment long in the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETT on the 4th paying $24.74 for another equal-sized position. My original position in the VanEck Vectors Gold Miners ETF was purchased on March 25th 2020 at $20.12. I bought another unit at $35.79 on December 1st 2020.
