The attached article in today's FT seems to confirm my view that the EU will remain an imperfect structure. I do not think that it will break up and I do not think that it will move forward dynamically. I believe that it will stagnate and remain very much as it is.

I agree that the EU may well stagnate, perhaps for a lengthy period and it is not obvious to me that it can recover the initial goodwill that existed in the 1970s.  Among its many problems it has become politically divisive - perhaps irreparably so.  A stagnate EU will not be able to survive, in my opinion.
