On the SNP’s Nicola Sturgeon:
David,
There are two “must read” articles in the Spectator of 17th October entitled The SNP’s one party state – Nicola Sturgeon’s government is an illiberal, centralising disaster. Time for a revolution; the other one is Sturgeon’s uni power grab, What Scotland’s professors have to fear from the SNP’s latest bright idea. I really would advise a quick read of these two articles if only to meet your axiom of Governance is Everything. Up here we are on a par with Putin’s Russia.
Thanks, for the article photocopies which I have read with interest and posted the three pages sequentially above.
I have been saddened by Scotland’s politics, as you know. My father-in-law was born in Aberdeen and he would be appalled by the SNP, as is every person I know with a strong connection to Scotland.
However, unlike Putin’s Russia, you still live in a democracy, although my impression is that few really left-wing politicians have genuinely democratic leanings. Plenty of other Scots must be fed up with the SNP. Your elections next spring are the first real chance to erode the SNP’s huge majority. The best possibility of this happening, in my opinion, would be if more voters in Scotland who oppose the SNP rallied around Ruth Davidson. I think she is a strong, articulate and sensible leader.
