I reopened a long trade platinum today, on the basis that it should only be a matter of time before it breaks decisively up out of the present trading range.  Once again this is a spread-bet, because of their tax free status on profits in the UK.  Incidentally, one cannot write-off spread-bet losses against anything else.  I had to buy the soon-to-expire July contract for which I paid $1467.5, including dealing costs. This will be rolled forward on the 27th.  This is smaller than my gold and particularly my silver longs so I may add to it.
