On Denmark’s relative strength:
“Hi David, I notice that when discussing European indices, you often mention the Swedish index but never the Danish. I think you should look at the Danish index too. Not because I happen to live there, but because it has been a huge outperformer and continues to look extremely good. That is mainly because most of the big companies here are effectively autonomies.
“Notice that we usually look at the capped index, otherwise one share (Novo Nordisk) takes up a disproportionate amount of the index.
“Here is a chart showing the Danish and Swedish indices along with the Dax and the Euro 50.
“Hope you are enjoying the summer. We are expecting 30 degrees today which is WAY too hot!”
You are correct and I apologise for having been bone-idle regarding the Danish Index when I do Audios. I look at the front page of my fixed Bloomberg screen for global indices and it only lists Sweden among the Scandinavian indices. I promise to keep a closer eye on Denmark, not least as its strength could cause it to be an important indicator when it starts to lose uptrend consistency.
Thanks also for your comparative performance graph above. I want that very useful facility in Chart Library, as you know, and we expect to have the programming time shortly.
I always enjoy summer but it has been hot in London as well.
