On Europe’s problems:
“I think Oscar Wilde might have accused you of carelessness for getting 2 emails from me in a week.
“But given your recent comments about the problems of Europe, I thought you might find what David Pryce-Jones has to say about France, quite interesting.
“Perhaps its never that simple? Over the years I can remember a number of people indicating to me that their own experience was that French businesses & employees were often more effective & efficient than their British ‘counterparts’.”
What a delightful opening remark and thank you so much for this link to DPJ's interesting report on France. It is very sad, as is the 1 reply in the 'Comments' section that has been forwarded in response to the article.
I first visited France in 1970 and have been back most years, despite only speaking menu French. Mrs Fuller and I love the country, as do our children. I think the French are remarkable, but the brain drain is now considerable, as you know.
I guess it all part of the cycle of nations, and I hope to see evidence of the French recovery before too many more years pass.
