Global View: Climate Change in Perspective
Here is the brief introduction for this largely pictorial report from Bloomberg View, which also contains links to a number of articles.
The debate over climate change, unlike climate change itself, seems to be stuck. Let’s see if we can get it moving.
The arguments are mainly over three issues: whether climate change exists, what causes it and what to do about it. The first two questions are controversial but shouldn’t be. And the third would generate honest debate even if there were agreement about the first two. But viable solutions to the crisis aren’t hard to find.
This is easily one of the best reports that I have seen on this controversial and often frightening topic. However, it is calm, factual and well presented, so I commend it to all visitors to this site.
In my opinion, it is not credible to say that we have no influence on our climate, given mankind’s large populations, abundant livestock, extensive infrastructure, and the burning of fossil fuels. The evidence that we are at least partly responsible for thinning ice caps, plus rising and warmer seas may not be conclusive but consider the risks if we wait for irrefutable proof before doing anything about it.
Fortunately, we are beginning to address the challenge of climate change, starting with individual responsibility, plus the considerable help of rapidly developing technologies.
