I participated in a webinar for the clients of Regent Wealth Management last night and thought subscribers might like to see the slides I used to illustrate my points.

I focused on the long-term and highlighted how I do not believe there will be a recession this year.

How there is a mismatch between the Fed’s expectations for interest rates and the bond markets.

How oil prices were a headwind for stock market returns, have hit a least a near-term low and will be a massive economic tailwind for the consumer the longer prices stay low.

How the market rallied to break out of a 13-year range and this still looks like the first big consolidation in a new secular bull market.

How the consumer sector is benefitting from the slow and steady growth of the US economy.

How the deterioration in emerging market currencies is troublesome right now but will transform into a truly meaningful competitive advantage once the devaluations are over.

I also talked about how passive investing in bonds is likely to represent one of the worst performing sectors over the next decade. In a rising interest rate environment managing duration and convexity is a necessity not available to ETFs.
